Oren the Vintage Shoe Designer from the Gaza Envelope

My story

My name is Oren, I am a mother of two boys and a multidisciplinary artist who has been designing shoes for 12 years. My life and the lives of my family changed completely on October 7th when I was forced to flee my home in Moshav Netiv HaAsara after 13 hours in a safe room while terrorists roamed my yard. Before that day, I lived in the moshav on the border with Gaza for 24 years and raised my children there in happiness and full security. The last two years since the evacuation have been the hardest of my life, a period saturated with pain and uncertainty during which we moved from place to place without a permanent home. In the midst of all this upheaval, I chose to hold onto my happy shoes as an anchor of stability, and today I continue to create with all my might from my current residence in Gedera. Despite everything, I am moving forward because shoes are my passion and my way of expressing my colorful and optimistic soul within this complex reality.

What makes my business unique is the combination of graphic design, photography, and shoe manufacturing; I use a leather printing technique based on collages of my original artworks. My style is heavily influenced by the world of vintage and history, creating timeless pieces that are works of art in themselves. Every pair of shoes is made with meticulous handwork and great love, based on the motto that accompanies me: shoes for women who know how to stand their ground, in every sense of the phrase.
